  5. Do not wear them while sleeping to avoid accidental damage.

Below are some useful tips on how to care for and maintain their splendor so that you can enjoy them for a long time to come.

Maintaining shine

– Your jewelry can lose its shine when exposed to air during a long period of time.

– Loss of shine or tarnishing is a natural process that can be recovered through a special washing (as described later on).

– We strongly recommend taking off your jewelry before going to bed, showering, or taking part in any physical activity.

– Exposure to certain chemicals or environments may compromise the integrity of your jewelry. This includes (but is not limited to): perspiration (sweat), perfumes/colognes, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water, or silver polish, etc.

  1.

Cleaning your jewelry

Mix a little soap with lukewarm water and rub the item with a soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are perfect for cleaning jewelry with difficult-to-access corners. If dirt persists, carry out the same process in clean water.

  • Gold-plated items: – Rubbing too hard may result in loss of plating. Therefore, it is very important that you do it gently to avoid any damage. in case it darkens over time. Make a paste with baking soda and water and cover the gold jewelry with the paste by placing it in a container. Cover the jewelry with white vinegar and let it sit in the solution. Clean the jewelry with water and dry it. – Raw brass pieces: Raw brass parts that have not been varnished can be cleaned to brighten and restore their shine by soaking them in vinegar or cleaning them with a soft brush soaked in vinegar. In general, 1 minute is enough to take effect. If you want you can repeat it but be cautious and try not to do it often. Vinegar is an acid and should not be overused. If the brass has been varnished it will be mentioned on the listing and you can just clean it with a little soap with lukewarm water and rub the item with a soft toothbrush.

However, these techniques will not remove any scratches or dents present on the jewelry.

Storing your jewelry

Your jewelry should be stored in a dry place, never a bathroom or a damp place, and away from exposure to sunlight or hot places, adn ideally in a padded jewelry box or in a tarnish-resistant bag. .

Individual tight plastic bags (polyethylene) are a good choice,

Avoid rubber containers as they can accelerate tarnishing and darken the jewelry.

Please note because of their nature, gold-plated items are susceptible to color fading over time. The speed at which this color fades will depend on several factors, such as the use of chemicals on the skin, how much the wearer sweats, or even the pH level of the individual’s skin. For this reason, it is especially important to take proper care of gold-plated jewelry.

When should I remove my jewelry?

Your jewelry is delicate and should be treated as such.

It is recommended that you remove your jewelry before swimming, as the chemicals used to treat swimming pools can damage jewelry. Also the cold temperatures can cause your fingers to tighten and your rings to get lost.

It is also preferable that you take them off before showering, as soaps, shampoos, etc. can affect the shiny surface of your jewelry and optimally leave them out of the bathroom when steam is going to be generated.

If the rings have crystals or stones, remove them carefully from the sides and never from the top stone.

When removing jewelry for bedtime, showering, swimming, and any other activity that may affect the integrity of your piece, storing each one separately will prevent tangles and scratches.

  •

How shall I store my jewelry?

Store them in a dry place as humidity might oxidize the precious metals and tarnishing the stones

Do not store them in rubber containers as this accelerates tarnishing and causes them to darken.

Recommendations:

– Separate jewelry by metal: this prevents metals from tarnishing when they interact with each other.

– Cleaning: If you are going to store your jewelry for a long time, clean it beforehand, as dirt will interact with the metal and can tarnish it.

– Choose a dry (and dark) place to store your jewelry: humidity is its enemy!

– Make sure the pieces do not touch each other, as they may scratch.
